The Cloud? © 1970 Hugo Redivo

“The Cloud?”

The innumerable shapes of clouds can always stir the imagination. This one was to me an indelible reminder of illustrations that I had seen of the atomic bomb. It reminded me of the time and place in August 1945 when I was in Piombino, Italy and saw the bold, large size single head line across the entire front page of the daily newspaper there, that read: F E R M I. Little did I know at that time who Fermi was. But since he was the anti fascist Italian Scientist who had worked on the creation of the atomic bomb, the post fascist Italians were quite proud to emphasize Italy's contribution.
