“The Retired Postmistress”
| My father was born 1875 in Roveredo in Piano, Italy, from where he emigrated to Germany. In 1984 I visited that village and spoke to some of the older citizens. Introducing myself as the son of 'Meni Marus', his nickname, many of them remembered him and his family. Among them was this lady who, for decades, was the Postmistress of the village. To me she represented the pre-World War II times, commanding a dignified respect. | |
